The 126th Southern California Section Championships are coming up in late March and early April.  We are hoping for a strong field in all the divisions.  Please help spread the word to other players who might not have received this letter.  

 

The tournament will again be played at the beautiful Claremont Club, and we are hoping for beautiful weather and great competition.

 

We will begin on March 26 with the Men’s and Women’s 65+ divisions, as well as 70 & 80 Mixed and H/W combo 140.  We plan to finish these divisions by Friday, March 30, although some divisions may run into  Saturday March 31, depending on draw sizes.  Deadline is March 19.  ID # 6517524112

 

The Men’s and Women’s 30+ divisions will begin the weekend of March 31-April 1, and resume Thursday, April 5-7.  We plan to finish on Saturday, April 7, since Easter Sunday is April 8.  With one less day, we may have to play more than one round of singles per day in the early rounds, and quarter-finals in the larger draws will expect to play Thursday.  Thursday and Friday matches will be played starting no earlier than noon. This part of the tournament will also include 30, 40, 50 and 60 Mixed, and all the Family events.  Deadline is March 21.  ID # 651719112.

 

Players may register for one singles, one age division doubles, and one mixed doubles or family event. (Unfortunately, due to scheduling constraints, it is not possible to have players in both mixed and family events).  

 

We strongly encourage you to enter on-line.  Go to scta.usta.com; scroll to the bottom and click "Find a Tournament"; when the screen opens, put in the Tournament ID #;  when you see the tournament, click on the name to open the homepage.  Then follow the instructions for registration.  You will need your USTA # and a credit card.  If you enter on-line, please be sure to put in your phone number (preferably your cell phone number) and e-mail address so that we can reach you in case of an emergency or a default.  If you don’t put it in during registration, we will not have access to a number where we can contact you.  If you enter on-line, and there are scheduling issues you would like us to consider, please contact me by e-mail at abuck@scta.usta.com.

When the draws have been made and the schedule completed, everything will appear on the website.  Check there for match times and other up-dated tournament information.  Times will not be mailed.
