June 4th-10th, 2012 provided a glorious week of grass court tennis for the First Annual Senior Women’s Cat 2 National Grass Championships at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Ca. Over 100 enthusiastic entrants were treated to mild temperatures, fun parties and the best grass courts available.

Besides hosting 10 individual women’s age categories (40-85), three mixed events were also held which lead to many hours of exciting play and more tennis than at most tournaments. With a full feed-in, some round robins, and many 3 vs. 4 playoffs, everyone had as much tennis as they could handle.

The social part of the week was also very full. Tuesday evening was a special fashion show promoting Venus’ new line of clothes “11” and a cocktail party with Fiscalini’s gourmet cheeses. Wednesday night was a pasta dinner at the main clubhouse with every combination imaginable and a wonderful salad bar. Thursday evening was the player dinner and raffle at the “55” restaurant at the main clubhouse. Everyone was able to collect raffle tickets all week and many great items were given away with the grand prize being a membership to Mission Hills Tennis and Spa. Everyone had a great time collecting tickets and winning “big” prizes.

Tournament Directors/Administrators/Hosts; Chris Ramshower-Pearlstein and Andi Polisky provided everything necessary so all entrants would have a memorable experience. Individual court ice containers, flexible scheduling, physical trainer, wonderful “player bags”, cold drinks, practice courts, special rates in the tennis & golf shops and a $50 rate to play golf on one of 3 fabulous courses all combined to create an event that had something for everyone.
