January USPTA California Division events

Monday, January 14 - Monthly pro get-together with Don Henson
The monthly Pro Get-Together for tips on more effective tennis teaching with USPTA Master Professional Don Henson will be held January 14 at Los Coyotes Country Club (8888 Los Coyotes Drive, Buena Park, Calif.) from 10 a.m. to noon. The host for this event, Jonathan Calloway, also makes the courts available for anyone wishing to arrive early and strike a few tennis balls with fellow teaching professionals. The event is free, and USPTA members receive 1 APC education credit for attending. Saturday, January 19 - Vanta Quest Presents Courtside with Michael Chang
All USPTA California Division pros are invited to Seal Beach Tennis Center in Seal Beach from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on January 19 for an on-court strategy session and Q&A with Michael Chang, former French Open champion and No. 2 men's player in the world. The USPTA California Division is helping to sponsor this event to be free of charge to USPTA members. It also includes lunch and an autograph/booksigning/photo op. Later that afternoon, USPTA member and HEAD Penn District Sales Manager Carrie Cimino is hosting a HEAD demo day for USPTA professionals from 2:30 - 4 p.m. at Weddington Tennis Center in Studio City (4141 Whitsett Ave., Studio City, CA; phone (818) 761-3250). Come out and play test HEAD's new 2013 tennis frames, featuring the launch of Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova's new secret weapons - which includes HEAD's latest technology "Graphene," the world's strongest and lightest material that enables the redistribution of the weight from the shaft to the tip and grip for more kinetic energy using less effort. Saturday/Sunday, Jan. 26-27 - USPTA California Division convention and high school coaches workshop

Convention brochures and high school coaches workshop fliers will be out this week. Save the date and be sure to join us for this annual event. Learn from some of the industry's finest, including Hank Pfister, Wayne Bryan, Anne Smith, Ph.D., and new USPTA CEO John Embree, and network with more than 100 of your fellow southern California teaching professionals. The workshop is being held at the USTA training center in Carson, CA.
Don't miss this opportunity to hear and learn from Wayne Bryan, Hank Pfister, Rod Heckelman, Ken De Hart, Dr. Anne Smith, Ph.D. and new USPTA CEO John Embree, among numerous other speakers.
