The Southern California US Open National Playoffs were held at The Claremont Club, June 9-13, and thanks to their formidable performances Daniel McCall, Kelly Chen, along with Kaitlyn Christian and West Nott, will be traveling to New Haven, Connecticut.

McCall, of San Francisco, defeated Dustin Goldenberg of Birmingham, Michigan 6-4, 6-1 for the Men’s Singles title. Kelly Chen of Cerritos was the Women’s winner, downing Zoë Scandalis of Carlsbad, 6-4, 6-3. Kaitlyn Christian of Orange teamed with West Nott of Los Angeles for Mixed Doubles honors, scoring a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Pamela Montez of La Quinta and Andrew Scorteanu of Palm Springs.

Last year, Mayo Hibi scored a Southern California first, not only claiming the Women’s trophy locally, but also winning the National Playoff in New Haven to earn a spot in the US Open Qualifying. This year, McCall and Chen, as well as Christian and Nott, are looking to duplicate Hibi’s success, during the competition held in conjunction with the Connecticut Open, taking place in New Haven, August 15-23.
